Rules for Reversi

The object of the game...

...is to have the majority of your colour discs on the board at the end of the game

To start...

...place the pieces like so. The black pieces start.

To move...

When black, place a black disc in a square adjacent to a white disc so that a black disc is on either side of a white disc. When a white disc is surrounded, the black player flips the white disc to the black side.

Discs may flank the opponent's discs in more than 1 direction at the same time. All flanked discs are turned over in the same turn, becoming the opponent's property.

If you cannot place a disc on the board so that your colour is on either side of another player, you lose your turn.

To end...

Continue playing until every space on the board is occupied or no one can make another move. The player who has the most discs on the board wins.

Rules for Reversed Reversi

The object of the game...

...is to have the majority of your colour discs on the board at the end of the game, and be the player in charge.

To start...

...form two teams, each with 2 or more players. Each team should stand in its own line. The person at the front of the line is the only one able to make moves.

To play...

...act exactly as normal Reversi, but with the lead player of each team making the moves alternately. At random intervals the games master will indicate a team, and announce a change of players. At this point, the person at the front of the line goes to the back of their line. If that person is due to make a move, they may finish it (quickly!)

For alternate play...

...once the games master has indicated a change of player, they go to the back of the line in opposing team. This variation needs only 3 players in total, as a minimum.

To end...

...do so as normal. However, the winner is the person (not the team) that made the final winning move.
