Over the last few years I have improved my communications skills by writing articles for books and magazines. The greatest achievement in this field was the acceptance by Charles River Media to publish my first book on Cross-Platform Game Programming. This has now been used in a course on software porting at Westwood College, America. I have also written the ground-breaking Game Developers Open Source Handbook covering both the legal and technical issues involve in Open Source. It was the first book to do so.

In total I have written, and had published, over 50 articles. I have also contributed to Rusel DeMaria's book, High Score (second edition), and written pieces for Mensa Magazine.

I write a bi-weekly column for Free Software Magazine found here which achieves some of the highest readerships of the magazine, and fevered comments.

I also maintain a personal blog with thoughts and musings on technology, its culture and politics.

Cross-Platform Game Programming Game Developers Open Source Handbook

I have written about the games industry in Develop, writing the cover story for the March 2004 edition.

My first commision for Linux Magazine was series Language of the C, a complete 13 part series on the basics of programming in C.

From here I was asked to write other articles on individual topics, such as PHP, BASH and Pear::DB. I later returned to the series format with a five part tutorial on writing games using SDL, and fixed point processing.

Other topics and opportunities then presented themselves, including the writing about video recording over email, which I presented as a tutorial topic at NotCon 2004.

There is a full bibliography available with biography and categorized articles.
