09:14 UTC - Artists don't just wrap their presents - they design them ♥
21:51 UTC - It's late, and I'm tired - so it's unsurprising I score 0 on this test... ;(
11:49 UTC - Looks like my 1st book is going out of print :( Not so worried about the lack of royalties, but more concerned that it's going OOP and universities are still using it and asking me (directly) about it.
10:36 UTC - I've now seen one of the new 12 coach trains from FCC. Will this mean I can get a seat on the 8:12? Of course not! All the standing passengers from the train immediately before, and after it, have amended their commute to fill this train, too.
01:51 UTC - Tickets finally booked for my only Christmas concert this year - Chopin's Piano concerto No 2 in F minor. Plus a few other bits by Liszt and Beethoven, but we know I'm only going for the Chopin...
11:35 UTC - Episode 3 of Galaxy Four has been recovered. Unless you're Asa Aldis or Michael Lauck you are not expected to appreciate the importance of this post!

08:43 UTC - Just a reminder that Royal Mail have said that today is the last posting day if you want to guarantee delivery by Easter.
19:11 UTC - One of the more sensible things we do on Skype calls to Poland ;)
08:32 UTC - Amazon never learn. They sent me an email beginning, "Are you looking for something in our Computing & Internet Books store? If so, you might be interested in these items... Smart Home Automation with Linux by Steven Goodwin". Er, probably not Amazon, but can you guess why?!?! :)
21:38 UTC - Just home from Cantabile concert with Irene. The most astonishing thing was they took the train home to London, and not a limo! What happened to the rock n roll lifestyle?
09:27 UTC - For those that remember my Javascript game engine (and the 'teeth' game, Kim and I made), I decided to invest 3 hours and port it to Flash:
http://sgxengine.com/teethdefender/flash.htm
14:08 UTC - Off to prepare for #swel
10:40 UTC - I had a crazy dream that I weighed less than a thousandth of a gram. I was like, 0mg!
21:56 UTC - I step in the shower to clean it. I clean the tap. The tap turns, and I get soaked. How many more IQ points do I need until I'm not surprised by this outcome?
10:15 UTC - I've watched my clock tick to 11:11.11 on 11/11/11. Alas, that is probably the most interesting thing that will happen today :(
08:50 UTC - Hooray! Following on from last weeks/months update on Instructables putting my LEGO Menger sponge on the front page and it not happening... well... It's finally there, and I've seen it :)
http://www.instructables.com/
09:34 UTC - On this day in 1926, Harry Houdini died. To honour this, I've brought handcuffs, padlocks, and chains into the office.
11:44 UTC+01 - Doing chores. But chores lead to boredom. Boredom leads to Facebook. Facebook leads to leaving comments. Comments lead to ideas. Ideas lead downstairs to play the piano. The piano leads to distractions. Distractions mean no chores have got done yet...
13:52 UTC+01 - Caught up with (one of) my old FD's. Inspiring...
11:12 UTC+01 - It's really hard to find a good games-related .com name for a development & production consultancy company when all the best are taken by squatters. Any suggestions?
14:37 UTC+01 - When I was living at my previous (automated) home, no TV company was interested in automation. Now, I'm living at a new (un-automated) house and I get my first email. #fml #firstworldproblems #howquicklycanireimplement10yearsofhomeautomationinordertogetontv
22:13 UTC+01 - Busy, productive day. Time to go to sleep with Lisa Hannigan... not literally, of course... it's just her turn on the night-time juke box :)
16:47 UTC+01 - Dear interwebs - if I could get ripped in 4 weeks, the "girls in my local area" would come to me...
08:18 UTC+01 - Today is the first day of my two week holiday-no commuting into London, no beer, no getting up early, and no work. So what shall I do today? Er, well there's a trip into London for a beer tasting, a 6 o clock alarm call from the dustmen, and a design for some software that needs doing. Damn you universe, I need a break!
09:16 UTC+01 - Without realizing it, my Kindle book on beer reached number 10 in the best-sellers list under the category of 'beer'. Number 1 is a book on cocktails, so in my mind I'm 9th!
09:25 UTC+01 - Some magic for Thursday! Last night I recorded this routine of mine - I think most of you have seen it IRL. For the rest of you, this saves you the trouble!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Axnobq-oucE
19:15 UTC+01 - My train is near the end of the line, so there's a lot of newspapers left on the seats. Today's paper had a voucher for a free pint in a Youngs pub. I could have quite a nice lunch break tomorrow ;)
10:24 UTC+01 - function whoIsYourDaddy()
{
return m_ParentID;
}
07:16 UTC+01 - Happy birthday to Dr Samuel Johnson, creator of the first English dictionary. I'd have a drink in your local to celebrate... if the ruddy thing weren't shut! :( Thanks for thinking ahead, Mr Pub Owner!
23:04 UTC+01 - My first attempt at creating an xtranormal movie. I know there's a couple of mistakes, but the stupid software won't let you fix it - you have to "edit a copy", which then charges you more points to publish it :(
http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/12410618/its-agile
13:53 UTC+01 - Yay! I have finally coaxed the closure compiler into accepted my javascript and not breaking it in the process :) The old 'teeth' game now works with a canvas object, http://sgxengine.com/gametest/
19:49 UTC+01 - Whilst everyone else was enjoying Dr Who, I was looking at a blank screen thanks to my broken digibox :( So I spent the time baking some fresh bread, and writing a graphics driver to render to the HTML5 canvas. Saturday nights, eh? Who needs excitment when you've got javascript ;(
13:35 UTC+01 - I think Lucas Grangé was surprised by the fact that I invented the magic I showed him last night. So I've gone through my notes, and it turns out I've come up with 21 tricks so far :) Watch out world, I have some magic to show you...
09:36 UTC+01 - First Cyberpunk, then steampunk, and now to LEGOpunk. I bought legopunk.com yesterday and am soliciting idea for what to do with it. Suggestions welcome!
12:04 UTC+01 - "The Berglas Effects" has arrived. Yay! I'm in work. Boo! (Muggles are not expected to understand my excitment at this ;)
11:02 UTC+01 - Why isn't the NotW headling "You have no new messages"?
09:39:51 - Is it possible to be too busy to tweet? I think it is :(
18:11 UTC+01 - I am updating my FB status from my new house just to say that I am updating my FB status from my new house!
17:10 UTC+01 - I had completely forgotten there was a bank holiday looming, until it started to rain.
11:38 UTC+01 - This is either the most useless, or most useful, piece of javascript I've ever written - it calculates the surface area of a pizza, and determine whether you'd get more 'pizza per penny' when buying a 15" 'no crust' versus, or a 12" buy-one-get-one-free deal.
http://www.bluedust.dontexist.com/pizza/
22:01 UTC+01 - Good OpenTech. Good beers. Good company. Shame about the rapture. (Although the God Channel already had programming for today, so I don't know who was supposed to watch it, had it been true.)
09:28:41 - So @Amazon have removed Yaoi manga from their site. Expect uproar from those who never previously cared in 3..2..1..
10:52 UTC+01 - For any who are missing my magic performances, here's a brand new trick that lets you participate through the comptuer screen!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69PjNFjv0_A
21:08 UTC+01 - Two shoreditch trendies walking along, each carrying and drinking from an open 75cl bottle of Leffe Blonde. Suddenly I'm going off it...
09:11 UTC+01 - Name that tune?! This was one of the musics I hammered out last weekend. It's not quite Apocalyptica; even it you don't get the main tune, there's a bit at the end you should all know!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0raWqTuI3SQ
16:45 UTC+01 - I've submitted my details for 2012 London Marathon. I've never won the ballot before - maybe this year... Anyone else going for it?
12:09 UTC+01 - The order of the ZX80 character set has many subtle differences to the one in the ZX81. Who knew? I didn't! And that's why I wasted the last hour tracking down an emulator bug that didn't exist :(
09:12 UTC+01 - In 50 years, people will look back on today and wonder why we're so pre-occupied with Yuri. By then, space travel will be commonplace, and our sense of wonder will be a footnote. To all future historians - it is a big deal. Get over it! Instead of being faster or bigger, Russia created an event to inspire. For the first time in history, someone was for known for doing; not just being. God speed, Colonel Gagarin.
09:11 UTC+01 - When I sleep I'm with you,
Dreaming a dream, of having lives in common.
While I'm awake I'm without you,
Living a life, where love is a past notion.
Cursing sunbeams that wake me, while
I'm praising dreams that make me smile.
As I fight against the leavings of slumber,
I'm hoping, this once, that I won't recover.
20:26 UTC+01 - How to build a 100% edible kit-kat bench.

Jack Tang, this is for you!
10:36:25 - @madebyluke This was done on iPhone back in 2009. http://aol.it/hfv2ac Did you realize that you know two of the developers? ;)
17:29:10 - I've just heard that the author of our most recent book has paid for his own copy!?!?! Is he always this odd? :)
17:29:57 - The British Beer Book, written by Steven Goodwin, is now on Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004SV2EVA Go get it!
16:18:24 - We have arrived!
12:06 UTC - My first book on beer (4th in total) is now available at Amazon.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004SV2EVA
There are Kindle readers for iPhone/iPad and PC, so there's really no excuse to not purchase it - is there!?
23:22 UTC - Like everyone else it seems, I noticed how bright the full moon was tonight. So I grabbed my camera, switched it to manual mode, and fiddled about until I managed to get this shot. It's not as good as David Eade or Russell Howe could manage, but as someone who's been out of practise, I'm impressed by it.
p.s. next full moon on the 18th April.
14:25 UTC - I have reluctantly joined the 21st century and bought a microwave. I probably shouldn't have carried it home (15 minutes uphill), though.
17:59 UTC - Filling in the census form. Question H4 - "who else is staying here on 27 March 2011". Well, Mr. Government, that date is in the future, and not being a mindreader I don't know! But since I'll be out on the pull that evening I can safely say... er... no one else ;(
10:13 UTC - Amazon have set a new record: recommended me my own book... for the fourth time.
10:31 UTC - Was it really 10 years ago today that we started saying "all your base are belong to us"? Yes. Yes it was!
11:08 UTC - My glasses broke on the train this morning. So I started the day on my hands and knees in the middle of the carriage until I found the 2mm screw, through touch alone. Since I couldn't fix the lens back in, I had to walk through London half blind until I sensed (not saw!) an optician.
13:17 UTC - What happens at FOSDEM, stays in FOSDEM.
That's why my personal account of the trip has all personal details removed!
http://www.bluedust.dontexist.com/fosdem2011/
15:39 UTC - If you like salty pork, get over to Goodwin towers, immediately! I've just roasted some Hungarian "hairy pig" that's been marinated for nearly 2 years (yes, years!). It's on a nom-nom par with Bulgarian salami, and Italian Iberico.
09:24 UTC - My first book has been quoted in (another) academic paper. Thanks to Carl Bateman
09:57 UTC - I've changed so much since last year - I now eat pro-biotic yogurts everyday; am sartorially aware and ensure my clothes match; keep my nails trim; eat less fat; do regular exercise; cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize; dry clean my clothes at the end of the season; and I figure that one day will make a really good wife.
09:15 UTC - I found this fragment of prose in my notes, although I’m not mentioning when/where/about whom it was written.
Do I dare to dream, of a tempting embrace?
Like the sweet fragile pleasure,
Of an angel with grace.
As I burn the night’s whisper, of a quiet melody.
I imagine the colour, of life’s mystery.
Pretentious student rubbish? Drug-inspired genius? Random word generator? You decide...
11:44 UTC - I've just been called "weirdo" by Paul Daniels! My life in magic is complete :)
